As the end of the first quarter approaches with its many distractions, we need to find creative ways to keep our sales teams engaged and productive. The many distractions include longer days, that long lost sunshine, the amazing voices on American Idol, golf courses, negative co-workers wanting you to join their pity party, lack of support and grumpy management. There are dozens of ways to maintain productivity and we would love for you to share what works at your firm.
Sales contests are a great motivator. Contests can keep the team busy, active, engaged and productive. The contests don’t have to be elaborate:
Most Sales Calls
Most Appointments
Most Presentations
Most Leads Generated
Most Sales
Each contest should have more than one winner. There’s always one sales star, but having prizes for the top three in each category keeps everyone engaged, excited and results oriented.
Management attitude also impacts productivity. Who would you rather work for: a grumpy, negative boss that’s always barking and screaming; or an even tempered boss that can see the positive solution in even the most challenging situation?
The coolest bosses pass out compliments every day. Praise and encourage their employees for every success. They hum tunes, say ‘thank you’ and smile. Enthusiasm is contagious and will increase productivity.
Spring ahead! Spring into springtime with some rock star momentum ensuring you crush last year’s numbers. Sales Professionals are constantly faced with challenges and rejection. Enthusiasm is a choice. It is not a plan or a goal.
Enthusiasm is now. Spring ahead. Heat up your sales.
What positive things do you do to keep your sales team motivated and productive?
